The time arrives to finally meet your new little one! Many parents often wonder what to pack for that first home coming from the hospital outfit. Let’s face it, the first outfit home is picture worthy! You will likely have that photo and memory forever.
Every parent has there own taste and style. As long as you have the basic essentials, there really is no set one way. So what are some basic essentials you need?
For sure, you would pack a onesie (and a couple extra just in case..) and a hat to cover the head. I also suggest layers as you can never be sure the temperature. The onesie is the best for this reason too, as it is perfect to add on layers too.
As most babies are likely just going right into a car seat, comfort is important, so simple is best. Also, you will be changing lots of diapers, so an outfit that is easy to get on and off easily comes in handy too!
Don’t forget the socks and a blanket! You want to be prepared for any weather. Also remember you will be taking the baby in a car seat, so the blanket helps cover the legs if they are exposed as well.
For the size, you never can predict how large or small your baby can be, but I would get bigger than smaller! I personally rarely used the newborn size onesies 0-3 months I had, so would suggest not stocking up on that size when buying clothes before your delivery. That said, newborn size is typically fine too if you have it packed. Unless you know you are having a large baby, most babies can fit in either size usually just fine.
Gender shouldn’t matter in the outfit too much either. Many parents know in advance what they are having and buy accordingly. If you left it as a surprise, there are so many gender neutral colors to choose from!
Lastly, I would suggest always bringing a back up outfit or two. It is easy to pack and it always comes in handy!
In summary, the first outfit is so memorable and as long as the outfit is comfortable and has the basic essentials you need, anything you choose that is your style and taste will likely be perfect! XO
