Becoming a mom can be overwhelming sending us to the malls to buy products we most likely would never use. We see these items in the shops under the bright convincing light and we are swayed we would not be able to do without them. Often times, that’s just the shopping adrenaline at work. After months of purchase, we see it still in its original package unopened and untouched and we start to regret looking for the next available way to sell it off. But that doesn’t have to be the case. In this article I would be sharing the top 10 baby products you should have and would definitely make good use of.

1. 4moms Mamaroo Swing:
I saw the price tag on 4moms mamaroo and thought “is it really worth it?” And then I went on further to read reviews(as I always do) and I was sold. Made my purchase and was completely blown away when I received it. Contrary to the normal rockers and swings that go back and forth, the 4moms mamaroo
2. Aqua Scale Digital Baby Bath (with stand):
I suffered from back aches while pregnant and it happened to continue even after delivery, I am on the tall side as well(5ft 10) and giving my baby a bath in the tub was a dreadful process for me not until I stumbled upon the Aqua Scale Digital Baby Bath. It was a dream come true as it had a stand and a newborn insert putting the baby in place for a bath. I was a bit skeptical about the stand as it didn’t look so sturdy but I was wrong, it stayed in place and never moved an inch. I bought it and saw it had other qualities too like it could check my baby’s weight and the water temperature, I could drain the water without moving an inch by just connecting the hose that came with it to the bath tub. I fell inlove with it almost immediately and was like a child who just got a new toy. The stand wasn’t so bulky too as it folded away nicely at the corner of the bathroom. I saw it and initially thought my baby would outgrow it in no time but was I wrong, I used this bath till my daughter was 15months old(I’m not even kidding), did I mention she’s a very chubby baby and weighed about 13kg. I really have nothing to fault this bath and would recommend it as one of my best baby buys.
3. Mixie Bottle:
Due to my difficulty breastfeeding exclusively as I wasn’t producing enough to satisfy my baby, I had give her formula along side breast milk. It was a bit hectic going out as she fed almost every hour and making a bottle everywhere wasn’t really easy. Making sure the environment was clean, washing and sanitising my hands to cleaning extra formula that spilled wasn’t something I looked forward to. I eagerly searched for a solution and I found Gold, I found Mixie baby bottle. This bottle is exceptional. The brilliance behind it blew me away and it tackled not one but all of my problems with bottle feeding.comes in a 4oz and 8oz bottle, it has a separate compartment for milk at the bottom, a push of a knob opens up an enclosed link and all you have to do is shake to mix water and milk without opening the bottle after filling with both. I cannot explain how convenient this was. Although I got the 4oz and found it way too small as only two scoops of formula could fit in there but the 8oz worked just fine so I would suggest that. This helped with the night feeding as well as all I had to do was put warm water in the bottle and shake without actually getting up from my bed. This is a must have if you are bottle feeding. 4. Bepanthen;
Prior to getting pregnant, I thought all one needed to prevent diaper rash was either plain cotton wool and water or petroleum jelly/vaselin. Boy was I wrong! Not only did both have no effect, the rash become worse, itchy and bloody. As a first time mum, I was crushed I couldn’t do as little as take care of my baby’s bum, not the full baby now, just the buttocks. Not until a midwife introduced me to Bepanthen. In little words, it was simply a life saver. My baby’s bum was fresh and all cleared in a week. I used this from the start with my second and he did not have any rash at all.

Tomy baby monitor wasn’t initially at the top on my baby monitor list. I honestly hadn’t even heard of it before. It is no news that if you want to be 100% assured that your baby is safe in another room(not necessarily sleeping at night but even while you are busy around the house and baby is asleep) that you need a baby monitor. After purchasing one of the high-end monitors that just refused to come on after a month of using it, I stumbled across Tomy digital video monitor and it completely exceeded my expectations.
Although some people have complained of battery issues, I personally haven’t experienced such yet as it still works flawlessly. Here are the reasons I absolutely love this monitor;

7. Baby Carrier;
A baby carrier is super essential. Why? It offers you a hands free way of carrying your baby with a bonus of keeping the baby close to you. A carrier wins for being used where a buggy or stroller will struggle to go. A baby carrier is also a big yes when you have chores to do around the house. I’ve fallen in love with so many baby carriers. Some can be used from birth to 3-5years. Amazing right?! 8. Diaper Bag;
So, it’s a ” no-brainer” that every new mum needs a diaper bag but the challenge comes when choosing a diaper bag that isn’t only fancy but useful. I have seen on countless occassions diaper bags that are exceptionally gorgeous, super expensive but have no actual function of a diaper bag. Who says diaper bags must be super expensive? I found this amazing diaper bag while shopping which is the Child of Mine by Carter’s and absolutely fell in love. 9. Crib/co-sleeper;
This is a definite must-have. Your baby should have his/her own sleeping space if it’s not for any other reason, for safety concerns. There are so many types to choose from depending on what you want. From a regular crib(preferably a convertible crib with a changer) to a co-sleeper(which you can comfortably put on your bed just beside you) to a bassinet or travel cot. I personally fell in-love with the chicco next2me side crib, it’s just brilliant and for one of those moms (me) who do not fancy getting up multiple times in the middle of the night to nurse or soothe your baby back to sleep. All you really need to do is attach the crib to your bed, just beside you and you are good for the night.

Another choice of mine is the Swaddleme by your side sleeper. Which is safe for the baby to sleep on your bed with mesh sides to provide a clear view of baby and help air circulate to protect baby from overheating.

I also fell in-love with the crib that grows with your baby from a crib with changer to toddler bed to day bed and finally to a full-size bed. with the changer easily turning into a night stand or dresser beside the toddler bed, day bed or full sized bed.

10. Bottle Warmer/Travel Warmer/Insulated Bottle Bag;
Whether you are bottle feeding or breastfeeding, you need a bottle warmer. To simply heat up baby formula or frozen breast milk or both. Insulated bottle bags keep baby milk warm which is totally needed when you are heading out as you most likely wouldn’t have any access to a warmer except you buy the Tomme Tippe travel bottle and food warmer which has a thermal (hot water flask) and frosted container to warm food on the go and requires no electricity or batteries or the Munchkin travel car bottle warmer which plugs into your car adapter and warms food/formula/milk evenly in minutes. Some have sworn by the Prince Lionheart on-the-go bottle warmer which heats up bottles in minutes by the touch of a button on the pouch turning liquid to crystals, safe and requires no electricity, batteries and can be used over and over again.
Otherwise, you can go for the regular electric bottle warmer like Dr brown bottle warmer which I absolutely love or normal insulated bottle bags like Tomme Tippe insulated bags which in my opinion is the best I have seen so far that keep bottles warm the longest.
11. Aveeno Bodywash + shampoo and Lotion
Every pediatrician I came across told me about using Aveeno baby for my kids and I always wondered why until I used it. Lets just simply say “AMAZING”. My daughter had skin issues, after trying everything with no positive result, Aveeno did the trick. I have spoken to so many moms who are loyal to Aveeno and I’m glad to say I’m on that train.
