Sona app to make baby sleep

The Sona App Aims To Make Your Child “Sleep Like A Baby” And We Tested It

If there ever is a commonality between parents all over the world, it is a fact that sleep becomes ironically non-existent. For some reason unknown to us, the little adorable minis we birth decide straight up into earth to do everything in their God-given power to refrain from sleep. The ripple effect is parents turning into zombies and science experiments, proving that humans can indeed survive without sleep…. FOR YEARS!

This is why whenever there is anything relating to “how to get your child to sleep”, we are more than willing to listen. Even if you tell us to hop on one foot, pinky finger on our nose while spinning around in circles and screaming “balabalu”, you best believe we will give it a shot.

So, when we came across something circulating around the internet that had “sleep” and “child” in the same sentence, we naturally decided to take a closer look. Could this be the end of the “sleep-drought” parenting era?

Our priority in trying this out (aside from getting better sleep to enable us to continue to grow this amazing Moms and Mamas community) was to share with you that indeed we may have found the answer to every exhausted parent’s prayer.

Before I get to the result, I’ll first explain what this is.

No, it’s not a magic swaddle blanket or a blackout curtain. It is an app and it is called Sona. I know what you are thinking, “how can an app make my child sleep?”. Sit back and prepare to be amazed.

Sona was created to reduce anxiety and induce sleep in humans. The app which is available on iOS and Android features calming music but not just any kind. It has a science-backed twist that allows it to literally restore our brains. LITERALLY!

The music on Sona is called ‘restorative music’, created by composers from around the world, Grammy award-winning producers, and crafted under the guidance of neuroscientists at the University of California Berkeley. I’ll give you a moment to take that all in.

When you sign up on Sona, you are asked questions regarding stress and worry, and based on your responses, Sona selects restorative music specifically for you and recommends a dosage – the number of minutes per day and number of times per week.

But how does this differ from the white noise devices and the one million calming videos available on YouTube? Yeah, we wondered that too.

To put it simply, Sona tunes are “designed to increase alpha brain wave activity, and help listeners efficiently achieve a relaxed state.”

Okay, that wasn’t putting it “simply”, so I’ll explain further.  Alpha wave is when the brain is completely relaxed and not concentrating on anything. In collaboration with neuroscientists, the sounds on Sona were created to boost this activity in the brain, resulting in a deeply relaxed state.

But how is this different from other types of music? Relaxing pop music for example has been demonstrated in studies to boost Beta waves in the brain. Beta waves are the polar opposite of alpha waves, meaning beta waves occur during your most conscious and waking state.

If you are wondering how this relates to your young child “sleeping like a baby”, I’ll break it down.

When the sounds on Sona are played for your child- and because the tunes are designed to raise their alpha brain waves – it places your youngster in a relaxed condition and, as a result, helps them fall asleep.

We tested it, and we can tell you for a fact that Sona makes an inexplicable difference in a child’s sleep. Our advice is when it is nighttime and the room is dark and silent, play the sounds on Sona in the background for your child and then watch it work. Try playing the music for 10 minutes or more for the best results.

We can’t say whether or not this will work for you, but we can say without a doubt that it’s worth a try. This could be the miracle you’ve been hoping for!

To get you to try it out for free, we teamed up with Sona to provide you with 30 days of access to the app at no cost. It’s one thing for us to tell you; it’s quite another to see it for yourself. Use the code “momsandmamas” to extend your app trial to 30 days.

We’re keeping our fingers, eyes, and toes crossed for you so let us know how it works. Good luck mama!
