6 Things Most New Moms Do After Delivery

What should you do after delivery? Do the happy chicken dance around the house FIVE TIMES! Just kidding… or not! haha.

As much as we adore carrying a baby in our belly for 9 months, it isn’t quite as easy and as such limits us from doing stuff we would normally do and pay no major attention to. When that bump starts to grow, let’s just say you start to appreciate the littlest things and regret taking them for granted.

Before we get to the much serious things you should do after delivery like report birth to your insurance, we asked new moms what they missed the most during pregnancy and couldn’t wait to do after delivery and these are a few things they did that literally made them go “ahhh, I missed this” and you should too.

LAY ON YOUR TUMMY

You do not know the privilege of laying flat on your tummy until you get pregnant and see that this was one thing you should never have taken for granted. From laying by the pool or getting comfy while asleep or simply playing with your phone chatting off with friends, laying flat on your stomach will be a “no no” until you give birth. So mama, the minute that baby drops and everything is good, lay tummy down. You’ll feel so good!

DRINK A GLASS OF WINE

…or more! hehe. 55% of pregnant women feel one of the toughest parts of being pregnant isn’t delivery but cutting off alcohol for 9 whole months. So enjoy it! Get that glass of wine… or two… ok maybe three and make sure you do not give baby the milk afterward but rather express and throw away. I know you are like “EXPRESS AND THROW AWAY? ARE YOU CRAZY?” But HEY, that’s the sacrifice, my dear friend!

HAVE A NIGHT OUT WITH FRIENDS

I bet the last few months of your pregnancy wasn’t so much fun. Even if you tried hanging out to just feel like you were not missing much, you genuinely did not have fun. So get your partner or a close responsible relative to look after baby for a few hours while you hang out with friends and live the fairy-tale before you get back to no-sleep, change-diaper-every-20-minutes reality.

HAVE CAUTION-LESS SEX

I know! I know! You are thinking “SEX, REALLY?”. As surprising as that is, a lot of new moms stated this. Well, not immediately after delivery but you get the point! And this kinda doesn’t need much explaining now, does it? 😉

HAVE SOME ALONE TIME IN THE HOT TUB OR SAUNA

I’m sure you already knew that HOT tubs and saunas were a “no no” while pregnant as it is said to sometimes cause some birth defects. So, now that the little one is out, take an evening all to yourself or with daddy ;), light up candles, get a glass of wine, soft music and literally feel the stress slowly fade away.

ONE DAY OF UNDISTURBED SLEEP

You probably had a hard time having the perfect sleep when pregnant especially in your third trimester with your bump. Get a good long sleep when baby arrives. You deserve that undisturbed rest. Get daddy, your mom, sister, or close friend to watch baby while you snooze. It would be worth it, I promise you.

Being a new mom can be overwhelming sometimes. Always do somethings for you and daddy every once in a while to create some sort of balance. It does wonders maintaining your sanity. Happy Mommyhood.
