Hey everyone! Meet Verity, a new yummy mummy as she tells us about her nine months journey including most challenging moments, what she craved most and how she handled her morning sickness. Enjoy!
– 3/22/15 Scottsdale Arizona
3. How many weeks were you when you found out you were pregnant?
– 10 weeks
4. Pregnancy planned or unplanned?
– It was unplanned, but he was very wanted!
5. How did you tell your husband/partner about the baby?
– I took the test with the bathroom door open, lol. So as soon as it came up positive I looked up at him and said, oh my god, it’s positive!
6. When did you announce to family and friends about your pregnancy and why?
– I told my mom and my best friend right away. But we didn’t officially announce it until I was about three in a half months along. We wanted to wait and make sure we were in the safe zone before we said anything, God forbid you tell people and everyone is excited and then something tragic happen.
7. Morning sickness(or all day sickness)? If yes what did you do best to feel better?
– I got a small case of morning sickness, more like night sickness, that’s when it was the worst. But I would drink water and feel better, I really can’t even complain, I have friends who have had it so bad they needed medicine to even keep food down. The only odd thing is it went away second trimester then came back slightly in the third!
8. What did you crave most?
– Other than my usual sweet tooth, I craved sprite A LOT! I’m not a soda drinker at all so it was really weird that that’s all I ever wanted!
9. First baby item you bought?
– We found out we were having a boy at 14 weeks, so we went and bought him an outfit
10. Most challenging moments of your pregnancy?
-Definitely dealing with stretch marks. Like I said I had a pretty easy pregnancy but in the last three weeks I had stretch marks rear their ugly face! I’m honestly post partum still dealing with getting over the fact that I have them 😩.
11. Most memorable moment of your pregnancy?
– Feeling him kick and move inside me! He is only a month and half and although I adore having him on the outside, I miss being his home and feeling him move around in my tummy.
12. How many hours were you in labour?
– I was in labor for 14 hours.
13.What support did you have with you during labour, was it helpful?
– My husband and my mother were there and a staff of truly amazing nurses!
14.Did you have a Caesarean Section or natural birth? If natural, did you use epidural?
– I opted for the epidural when I was 5cm dilated. Everything was going normally then I stopped dilating at 8cm and wouldn’t thin out on one side for four hours. I just completely stopped progressing, my little boy was completely sideways, so I ended up having to get a c-section.
15. First thought or reaction when you saw your baby?
– I heard him cry before I got to see him and it was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard! Then they put him on my chest for a picture and he was just so perfect and handsome, I immediately started crying.
16.What do you wish you had known or what would you have done differently as regards your pregnancy or/and delivery?
– I really really really wish I would have worked out regularly through my entire pregnancy! I regret not doing that and allowing myself to be lazy sooo bad!
17. How long were you at the hospital for after delivery?
– I was actually at the hospital for 5 days and 4 nights!
18. Favourite baby product or item you bought?
– I’m not gonna lie, my favorite baby item has to be my rocking chair!! I got it after he was born and it was a game changer/life saver once I had it. I don’t know how I could have ever lived without it. Other than that, shoes!! I have a serious obsession with getting shoes for this little guy.
19. Product you bought but ended up not using(and advice other mums-to-be not to buy)
– Honesty I didn’t use any swaddling blankets. The ones that are pre-swaddled. They taught me at the hospital how to swaddlers him with regular blankets really good, and I liked that option sooo much better. So I’d say learn how to swaddlers with blankets because the swaddling ones are pretty pricey and he also grew out of them super fast!
20. Your intake on labour pain
– Up until birth my wisdom teeth were the worst pain I had ever experienced. This was 100x worse. I went in all hung up to go all natural, well like I mentioned earlier I got to 5cm and I was in tears. It hurts. But more so than it hurting is you don’t get a break! It was like pain 30 second breath than more pain. I think it wouldn’t have been as bad if it weren’t for it being so non-stop constant.
21. Advice to other mummy’s to be.
– My best advice I got was sleep when they sleep! Especially in the first month. Also get a really good concealer for the dark circles and bags. Also find your voice as a mother. I have always struggled to tell peole to mind their own business per say, and now that I have my child I had to force myself to find my voice and tell people what i want don’t want and what I will not tolerate she. It comes to my son. Not so easy when you have an over bearing MIL.
22. Anything else you would love to share that mums to be would find helpful!
– E=njoy your pregnancy, it will be over before you know it!!! I was so happy to finally have my boy, but I will say, once he was here I missed being pregnant so much. Not only did I miss it, it was like I blinked and it was over. So definitely don’t take it for granted.
