Hi, everyone! Today’s topic: Mom guilt!! *cheers from an invisible crowd*
We’ve all been there. You want to take a break from motherhood, maybe just grab a coffee date, or take a break from the chaos at home…but then mom guilt happens.
You feel guilty when you have to prioritize things other than your family. You start doubting yourself. What will the kids think? You worry about how your in-laws will judge you…or worse, your own parents!
So, what do you do? Well, here’s my advice – don’t let the guilt take over. You don’t have to be happy all day and night. You should also take care of yourself and make time for yourself to maintain your sanity.
The first step is recognizing that you can’t do everything and that’s ok. You are only one person, and it’s important to be honest with yourself about what is reasonable. Prioritize the things that are important to you, and let go of the things that aren’t as essential. It might feel like it’s a lot, but you can make a list of all the things you have to do and focus on completing one task at a time.
When you have a break and have time for yourself, make sure that the time you spend is free of guilt and full of happiness. Watch a movie, take a walk, or even just take a nap. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy.
And if you do feel guilty, know that it’s perfectly normal. Guilt is a natural emotion. Just make sure you do things to counteract it – talk to friends, take up a hobby, or whatever else works for you.
Remember – being a mom is hard work, and it’s ok to take a break now and then! So don’t let mom guilt stop you from having some “me” time!
