Top 7 Summertime Outdoor Essentials For Your Child

IT’S SUMMER TIME…YAY!!!

As a mother, this time of the year is probably the best time of the year for a good number of reasons;

  1. Activities lined up to wear your child out
  2. You don’t have to worry about your child catching a cold
  3. Your child finally gets to wear all those fancy clothes you’ve been buying since winter last year
  4. The memories to be made, the trips to new cities, beaches and the insanely cute random family photos that would eventually make it to the family album to be shown to the grandkids in the year 2043

Should we go on? Nah, we think you get the point… lol

You won’t need to pack a lot of stuff when you go out with your little one this season like you would in winter but there are some essentials that you definitely need to carry along in order to get the best out of your summer experience. As always, we are at your service and you are welcome!

OUTDOOR ESSENTIALS

  • Sunscreen: It is very important to protect your child from sunburn while getting all that juicy Vitamin D. It is recommended that babies below six years of age be kept away from direct sunlight and all babies/children should use sunscreens with an SPF of at least 30 during summertime. Apply sunscreen over exposed parts of your child’s body. If you are going swimming, make sure your sunscreen is water-resistant.
  • Lightweight Clothes: Dress your child in comfortable lightweight clothes that would permit airflow to all parts of the body.
  • Sun Hat: A sunhat is necessary to shield your child’s face from direct sunlight. Getting one with a strap is a plus because the strap makes taking the hat off an almost impossible feat for your child. If your child has afro hair, you might want to consider getting a really wide hat that would sit beautifully on your child’s hair and shield your child’s face properly.
  • Sunglasses: You know those cute baby sunglasses with the elastic strap attached to the frames? Yes, those ones are the best sunglasses to get for children under five years of age. You know what sunglasses do so moving on….
  • Portable Fan: Getting a portable fan gives you a 50% chance of overcoming crankiness while you are outdoors. Once your child starts to get sweaty or uncomfortable, whip out your fan and watch calm take over. For babies, it would also be an interesting item to focus on so get a colourful portable fan.
  • Water Bottle: Your little one is bound to get tired and dehydrated after all that running around. It’s your job to fix the dehydration. Have a good-sized water bottle (filled with water of course) close by for yourself and your child.
  • Packs of Snacks: You are surely familiar with the catchphrase ‘you are what you eat’. It applies to children too. Having snacks- preferably healthy snacks- help keep your child in great shape, a good mood and minimizes the amount of money you’d spend on junk.

BONUS

Baby Carrier: It’s easier to move around with your baby strapped to your chest. It also gives your baby the illusion that he/she is walking so you get the full experience without the stress of pushing a pram.

We hope this helps you navigate summer and have the best experience with your child(ren). Let the fun begin!
