Pregnant, Fit and Fabulous – Carey.

We had the pleasure of interviewing the beautiful Carey, an exercise specialist and nutritionist about her healthy and fit lifestyle during pregnancy. From her fitness must-have to her advice for pregnant women who haven’t exercised prior to pregnancy and so much more.

Name, nationality, occupation and baby’s name.

My name is Carey, I’m Yugoslavian & black, an exercise specialist & sports Nutritionist and my baby’s name is Milani.

How many weeks were you when you found out you were pregnant?

About 8 or 9 weeks.

How soon did you begin exercising after you found out you were pregnant?

I started back at about 4months as I always felt nauseous and it stopped me from starting immediately.

Were you already active(exercising) before the pregnancy? If yes, for how long?

I’ve been active in sports and exercise my whole life due to my parents influence.

What are some of your major exercise routines?

Currently I’m loving the stationary bike (that acts as a video game), incline treadmill, and arm circuit.

What is the hardest part of exercising while pregnant?

Hardest part is not being able to lift heavy, push sleds, do pull-ups, or practice my fitness routines… I miss my normal workout routine.

Do you exercise at home or at the gym?

I have a home gym.

What’s your main purpose for exercising while pregnant?

To stay healthy and in preparation to have a healthy delivery.

What is your exercise must-have?

Inclined treadmill or stair master.

What tip would you give to a pregnant mama about to begin her exercise journey?

Listen to your body….. No one person’s fit pregnancy is the RIGHT way so do not compare yourself to anybody else… Just enjoy your body, being fit and healthy throughout your pregnancy. Also have fun with it and be open to new workouts.

What are your fitness goals?

Just to continue exercising most days of the week and eating whole clean foods most days with one cheat day 🙂

What exercise would you advice a pregnant woman to definitely not do?

Do not try to start lifting heavy or running long miles. It’s not the time to start trying to be a competitive athlete… The biggest tip is to maintain or start healthy fitness living lifestyle.

What’s your feeding like?

I eat whole food, basically clean eating. About 5 small meals/day with a cheat meal when I really feel the urge and that’s about once a week. Cravings were out of control at the beginning but I’ve got a hold back on my body now.

Any last advice from you to the other moms-to-be?

Enjoy this time, take pictures even if you feel huge lol (join the club) and the best advice is not to compare yourself to others. I love looking at other fit women and seeing how small and awesome they look so much so I started hating my “pregnant look” … I got reminded that every woman and her pregnancy is different so just love your body.

Thanks for your time Carey and thanks ladies for stopping by.

Lots of Love,
Xo
